What do Handicap Index, Course Handicap and Playing Handicap mean?
Handicap Index: This is a standardized measure of a golfer's potential ability, calculated from the best scores in their recent rounds. It allows golfers of varying skill levels to compete fairly against each other. Your current index will be on your England Golf app or V1.
Course Handicap: This converts your Handicap Index into the number of strokes you receive (or give) for a specific course and set of tees. It considers the course's difficulty, ensuring fair competition across different courses.
Playing Handicap: In competition play, your Course Handicap is adjusted based on the format and any applicable handicap allowances. This ensures equity among players of all levels.
